Tips on Sept 2009 BBMP 1103 Final Exam

The exam coaching workshop was successfully conducted at OUM Perak on Nov 29, 2009 from 8.30am to 12.30pm. It was attended by 16 learners from OUM Perak.

The final exam which will be held on 17 December nationwide from 9.00am to 11.10am, consists of 2 parts:

Part A - given 3 questions - answer only 2
Part B - given 2 questions - answer only 1

You are given 2 hours to answer three questions, which means you must spend NOT more than 40 minutes per question.

Here are some of the topics to focus in the Sept 2009 final exam:

Topic 1 - from Chapter 6 - compound interest and growth rate

Topic 2 - from Chapter 7 - differentiation using product rule, division rule, power rule and chain rule

Topic 3 - from Chapter 10 - application of differentiation especially on how to find maximum revenue, maximum profit and minimum cost. Also practice on marginal cost, marginal revenue, marginal profit and average cost, average revenue and average profit

Topic 4 - from Chapter 13 - Integration

Topic 5 - from Chapter 14 - application of Integration especially on how to use integration to find cost and revenue functions from marginal cost and marginal revenue

Bengkel Matematik @ OUM Perak bagi Semester Sept 2009

27 Sept 2009

Pagi tadi telah berlangsungnya bengkel matematik untuk pelajar BBMP1103 semester Sept 2009 di OUM Perak. Bengkel ini telah dikendalikan oleh Pengarahnya sendiri iaitu Richard Ng dengan menggunakan model pengajaran Online Supplemental Instruction (OSI).

Peserta bengkel sedang giat membuat perbincangan mengenai soalan matematik yang diberikan

Seramai 9 orang pelajar telah hadir daripada sejumlah 30 orang yang disasarkan. Walaupun kehadiran amat menghampakan tetapi semangat yang ditunjukkan oleh pelajar yang hadir merupakan satu petanda baik.

Shamini, salah seorang peserta bengkel sedang mewakili kumpulan 2 untuk memberikan penjelasan jalan kerja soalan matematik yang diberi

Rata-rata pelajar yang hadir mempunyai profil yang hampir sama iaitu mereka kebanyakannya mendapat gred yang kurang baik pada peringkat SPM dan telah meningalkan sekolah lebih dari 6 tahun sebelum memasukki Open University Malaysia (OUM).

Para peserta sedang belajar cara menggunakan Equation Editor

Dalam bengkel ii para pelajar telah didedahkan dengan matematik asas di mana mereka diajar operasi nombor serta aljebra. Pada akhir setiap sesi, pelajar dikehendaki melantik seorang wakil untuk tampil ke hadapan memberikan penerangan cara menjawa sesuatu soalan yang diberikan.

Tangarajie dan Zolpakar sedang mempelajari cara menggunakan Equation Editor

Kemuncak kepada bengkel ini ialah para pelajar diajar cara menggunakan perisian Microsoft Equation Editor untuk menaip simbol matematik. Setiap kumpulan dibekalkan dengan sebuah laptop. Bilangan pelajar yang kurang membolehkan semua pelajar berpeluang menggunakan Equation Editor secara Hands-on.

Pada akhir sesi bengkel ini, para peserta nampak lebih berkeyakinan. Mereka juga telah didedahkan dengan model pembelajaran OSI di mana semua peserta diingatkan untuk menjadi mentor kepada rakan-rakan lain yang perlukan bantuan mereka dalam matematik.

Bengkel ini yang bermula pada jam 8.30pg tamant pada jam 1.15tgh. Pelajar disediakan minimum dan makanan ringan oleh pihak OUM.
